Amazon is recruiting South Africans who can work remotely

Amazon is currently looking for tech-savvy South Africans to take on work-from-home positions. These new associates will provide virtual technical support in the country.

The company is advertising for staff who will be able to provide outstanding technical support to Amazon’s customers in relation to it digital services.

Amazon has explained that its technical support associates are an essential component of the company’s goal to deliver a professional customer service.

The positions are only available to South African citizens or individuals who have permanent residency in the country. Hired candidates will be expected to work from a home location during pre-scheduled hours. Most of the shifts will take place overnight. The new associates will need to ensure that the have access to a reliable internet connection. Their work-from-home-environment should also include few external interruptions.

According to the ad, “a dedicated 10Mbps uncapped fibre connection is required for this position. LTE lines are not suitable for this work.”

Applicants need to have the following qualifications to be considered for the positions:

  • An NQF level 4 qualification or higher
  • 3 months of work experience in any environment
  • A good command of the English language
  • The ability to navigate the internet and email programmes
  • Exceptionally communications etiquette

Amazon is not only looking to hire virtual technical assistants, but it is also advertising to recruit customer service associates and virtual community moderators in South Africa. These are remote positions that can be administered from anywhere in the country.

The role of customer service associates will be to assist American and European Amazon customers with the focus of resolving their problems efficiently. These problems can include billing enquiries and tracking their orders.

Virtual community moderators will be responsible for moderating customer reviews and responding to email queries.

Those who are hired for these positions will be expected to liaise with customers telephonically, via email, and live chat.
